Formative Assessment: Formative assessment helps teachers determine next steps during the learning process as the instruction approaches the summative assessment of student learning.
Types of Formative Assessment: Exit pass, KWL, in-class discussions, group work, minor assignments, listening to a student read or solve a math problem, whiteboards and etc.
Summative Assessment: Summative assessment allows you to see the students growth and which students understood the teaching, grasped the desired outcomes. Summative will tell you if you need to go back.
